I suggest that, with a temporary working internet connection by ethernet, tethered or whatever means possible, open a terminal and do: sudo apt update sudo apt install git git clone cd Netgear-A6210 make sudo make install sudo modprobe mt7662usta You wireless should now be working. When Update Manager installs a later kernel version, also known as linux-image, recompile: cd Netgear-A6210 make clean make sudo make install sudo modprobe mt7662usta Please retain the file and these instructions for that time. In order to minimize conflict between the internal wireless and the USB, I suggest that you blacklist its driver: sudo -i echo 'blacklist ath9k' /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf exit Reboot.

Are you or anyone experiencing hang up when you try to shut down or reboot? I did, I had to extract an updated driver v. 4.2.9.2, Official from Ralink I extracted it from the install package and used Kextbeast to reg it. The installer would not reg the driver only the utility would update to Uv. 4.0.9.6 Check it in the Utilty.About Tab see what versions your running the way you installed, you may be using the old driver v.4.1.8.0 and the updated 4.0.9.6 Utility and u may not be getting the max speeds and could have some connection issues. I have the Kext file available if anyone needs it. Let me know i can post it somehow.

A link to the most recent Ralink version would be very helpful. I'm running 10.9 on a Mac Mini 2009 w/ 4G RAM and cannot get this adapter recognized. System profiler sees it as Ralink but Network prefs don't see it at all. Ifconfig sees it as en5 but says it is inactive. I installed the Asus driver but that didn't help so I uninstalled and rebooted. I installed the Ralink driver with the adapter disconnected, rebooted and then connected the adapter. I expected a tool to pop up as described but instead I got an alert regarding an unregistered kext, which the alert said would be run anyway.

I'd like to try the newer Ralink driver if you could post that somewhere.
